Remote Learning Page LIVE!

3/17/2020

Hello again, Families,
The new "Remote Learning" page is now LIVE and available to help your children with their at-home learning. We do have a packet of learning material ready to go with all of their favorite activities they are familiar with from class. Families may pick up these learning packets on MONDAY, MARCH 23rd, from 8am-2pm. If you will not be able to pick up your learning packet from school, please let me know and I would be more than happy to bring it to you!

The Remote Learning page features "free" learning websites to use with your child and a curated set of playlists featuring our favorite videos and songs from class.

If there is anything missing or you are looking for a specific resource please let me know. I am here to make this go as easily as possible for you!

All the best (and yes, I STILL miss you all terribly),
Mrs. Ervin

100th Day of School graphic
Hello TK Families,
There are some exciting events and celebrations coming up over the next two weeks of school!

Monday, February 3rd—— ‘Wear your PJs to school day!’
We will be celebrating Groundhog Day. We will learn about the history of Punxsutawney Phil and will make our own predictions about if we think there will be six more weeks of Winter or an early Spring.

Wednesday, February 5rd—— ‘100th Day of School!’

We will celebrate the 100th Day of School with ‘100 Day’ themed centers and activities all week. We will have a special 100 Day snack this day. Please send your donations to our 100 Day Trail Mix this morning so we can count to 100 all day long! Let Mrs. Ervin know if you would like to volunteer in our class on this day.

Friday, February 14th—— ‘Valentine’s Day Party’
We will celebrate Valentine’s Day with a valentine card parade and a celebration of friendship. See the note that went home in folders for more information.

February 17th thru 21st—— ‘President’s Holiday Break’
NO SCHOOL THIS WEEK!

Please continue to work with your child on the Environmental Print homework which is due each Friday. We brainstorm businesses, food, and other ideas for the homework in class on Monday to help everyone out. If you need any ideas, let Mrs. Ervin know! I will send home a packet of any missing letters you can work on as a family over break.

Thank you!
Mrs. Ervin

Newsletter Location Transitioning to ClassTag

Classtag logo
Hello families! I am so thrilled to have you all back in class for learning. I hope you all enjoyed your break and have fun stories to share with our friends.

Starting this month I will be moving our class newsletter and extra information to be distributed through our ClassTag. We have been rapidly earning points and I am hoping to get something fun for our class before too long. If you prefer not to use the ClassTag app or website I totally understand! I will continue to share out the same information via Aeries Communication so you stay in the loop.

All the best,
Mrs. Ervin

December 2019 Newsletter

Happy December, families! There are many new and exciting things coming up this month I want to keep you informed about.
1. FOLDERS
  • Please check folders and empty them every night. Everything can stay at home unless it is environmental print homework or a permission slip.

2. FESTIVAL OF TREES
  • Our field trip is THIS Friday, December 6. The bus will leave school promptly at 9:30am so please make sure you are at school on time.
  • (Please note: parents will not be allowed into the event unless you have a chaperone wrist band. We can only have one parent volunteer for our class. Please let me know if you are interested.)
  • For this event you are going to write a letter to Santa AT HOME, and then we will mail them to the North Pole AT THE FESTIVAL. This homework is in the folders tonight. PLEASE RETURN THE LETTER TO SCHOOL BY FRIDAY, DECEMBER 6!

3. ENVIRONMENTAL PRINT HOMEWORK
  • This week we are studying the letter Tt and the homework page is in the folders.
  • Many students are thinking of words that start with the letter T. HOWEVER, environmental print is looking for words they see every day that begin with the letter of the week. For this week think of things like Target, or Tajin spice, or Lake Tahoe (from signs all around town).

4. WINTER CLOTHING
  • Yes, the snow is finally here. The clothing rule is: If there is snow on the ground, students are required to bring snow jackets, snow pants, boots, and gloves. (This rule still applies even if it is not snowing or raining each day).
  • Without these items your child will not be allowed to play in the snow at recess to keep them dry.
  • If you need help getting any of the items, please let the front office know!

I look forward to a wonderful December exploring kindness and giving, and more academics with your student! If you have any questions just let me know.
Mrs. Ervin

Farewell, Class of 2023!

6/18/2019

To my amazing 8th graders--
It was genuinely an amazing year and it was such an honor to teach all of you! I can honestly say I will miss your classes and the ridiculously entertaining things that occurred. You have left me with many cherished memories and quotes from our adventures. Your class, more than any other class, taught me so much about teaching and pop-culture.

I enjoyed seeing you celebrate promotion or the end of school with your friends and families and wish you all the best over the next few weeks of break. I'm sure I will see you all around town over summer, either at the beach or at new jobs. Enjoy the break from academics, keep reading (yes I know, I said it), and feel free to contact me anytime for help or just to catch up. Seriously.

Also, keep in mind I am always looking for classroom helpers next year! Just shoot me an email or stop by anytime to pass on your new wisdom to the next groups of 8th graders or to be put to work. The couch is now yours and I'm always up for helping you complete community service hours.

Much love and best luck next year,
Ms. Ervin  :)
